Whittling Chip

Hello, Bear and Webelo parents!
At this Sunday’s Den meeting, we will be working on the Whittling Chip.  This is the knife safety and carving technique course that earns our Bear Cubs their “Bear Claws” adventure, as well as the ability to carry and use pocket knives at Scout events and campouts.  If your Scout has a pocket knife – or if you have one that he can borrow – please bring it to the Den meeting this Sunday.  We will have some extras on-hand as well.

This Sunday, we will be working on basic knife safety, handling, and sharpening, and maybe some practice carving on bars of soap.  This will earn the boys their whittling chip. At the next meeting, we will be working on wood carving techniques and that will complete the Bear Claws adventure for our Bear Cubs.

Rockin’ the Bobcat

A HUUUUUUGE 306 Shout out goes to Jonathan T. from our Bear Den.  Today, I met Jonathan’s mom at the library to exchange some paperwork, and there was Jonathan – in 306 gear – totally ready to show off his Bobcat skills.  Jonathan worked hard at home, and rocked the Bobcat requirements right there in the parking lot.  SLAM DUNK.  Way to go, Jonathan!

Cake Auction – Friday, May 15

Join Pack 306 for our Cake Auction on Friday night, May 15 at Naquag School from 6 – 8pm.

Scouts and family will be able to bid in a live auction on each cake.  Proceeds go to the Pack and will be spent on the boys.

Here are the guidelines:

  • The Scout and a parent must make the cake.
  • The cake must be edible.
  • The cake must be displayed on cardboard, covered in tinfoil.
  • The ingredients used must be displayed and taped to the top of the tinfoil. (We do have some nut allergies in the Pack)

The theme of the cake can be anything the Scout would like so be creative!

There will be prizes for the most favorite cake at each den level, voted on by all the scouts prior to the auction.
